What is a GLP-1 pen click calculator?

A GLP-1 pen click calculator estimates how many pen clicks may correspond to a prescribed dose of a GLP-1 medication. It is usually used by people taking injectable medications such as semaglutide or tirzepatide.

Some injection pens make audible or tactile clicks when they are turned or used. In certain situations, people may try to count these clicks to estimate a dose. However, click counting is not universal across GLP-1 pens, and it may be unofficial or off-label depending on the medication, device, and instructions.

For example, Wegovy is supplied as a single-dose, single-use pen. Each pen contains one pre-measured dose and is discarded after the injection.

Because the dose is fixed:

    • There is no dose dial.
    • There are no dose increments to adjust.
    • “Click counting” is generally not feasible or reliable the way some people attempt it with multi-dose Ozempic pens.

Do not rely on click counting for this type of pen unless your pharmacist or prescriber confirms that it is appropriate for your exact medication and dose.

Semaglutide dosing schedule

Semaglutide dosing depends on the medication (Ozempic or Wegovy), indication, formulation, and your prescriber’s instructions. Always follow the dosing instructions from your prescriber.

Ozempic injection dosing schedule:

Week 9 to 12 1 mg once weekly if more glycemic control is needed

Semaglutide to tirzepatide dose conversion

Semaglutide and tirzepatide doses are not directly interchangeable. A 1 mg semaglutide dose is not the same as a 1 mg tirzepatide dose. These medications have different active ingredients, and they have different dosing schedules.

Do not use this calculator to convert from semaglutide to tirzepatide or from tirzepatide to semaglutide. If your medication has changed, contact your prescriber or pharmacist for exact dosing instructions.
