Mounjaro KwikPen Price from Canada
Quick Answer: Mounjaro from Canada costs $499.97 to $699.97 per KwikPen at Buy Canadian Insulin, depending on strength. Each pen holds 4 weekly doses, so the cost works out to about $122 to $175 per dose. The average US retail price is about $1,159 for the same one-month supply.

About Mounjaro (Tirzepatide)
Mounjaro is a once-weekly prescription injection made by Eli Lilly. Its active ingredient, tirzepatide, is the first medicine that acts on both the GIP and GLP-1 hormone receptors. In the United States, Mounjaro is approved:
- Along with diet and exercise, to improve blood sugar control in adults and children 10 years and older with type 2 diabetes.
- To lower the risk of major cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke or cardiovascular death) in adults with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk. The FDA approved this use in August 2026, based on the SURPASS-CVOT trial.
Mounjaro is not used for type 1 diabetes. It is not approved as a weight-loss medicine, although many people with type 2 diabetes lose weight while taking it. The same active ingredient is approved for chronic weight management and obstructive sleep apnea under the brand name Zepbound.
How Mounjaro Works
Tirzepatide copies the action of two gut hormones, GIP and GLP-1. Together, these help the body release insulin when blood sugar is high, lower glucagon, slow how fast the stomach empties, and reduce appetite. The result is lower blood sugar and A1C over time. Learn more in how Mounjaro works.
In the SURPASS-2 trial, adults with type 2 diabetes taking Mounjaro 15 mg lowered their A1C by 2.30 percentage points and lost an average of 11.2 kg (about 25 lb) over 40 weeks. People taking semaglutide 1 mg (the active ingredient in Ozempic) lowered their A1C by 1.86 points and lost 5.7 kg.
Mounjaro KwikPen Strengths and Dosing
The Mounjaro KwikPen sold here is a multi-dose pen. Each pen contains 4 fixed weekly doses of one strength, so one pen lasts about one month. The strength on the label (for example, 5 mg/0.6 mL) is the amount in each weekly dose, not the total in the pen.
| Stage | Weekly dose | Notes |
| Weeks 1 to 4 | 2.5 mg | Starting dose to help the body adjust; not meant for full blood sugar control |
| Week 5 onward | 5 mg | First maintenance dose |
| If more control is needed | Increase by 2.5 mg | Only after at least 4 weeks on the current dose |
| Maximum dose (adults) | 15 mg | Do not exceed |
| Maximum dose (children 10+) | 10 mg | Pediatric type 2 diabetes only |
Your prescriber decides your dose. See the full Mounjaro dosing guide for more detail.
Using the KwikPen
- Attach a new pen needle for every injection and remove it right after.
- Prime the pen before each injection as shown in the Instructions for Use that come in the carton.
- Inject under the skin of the abdomen, thigh or upper arm, and rotate sites each week.
- Some liquid stays in the pen after the 4th dose. This is normal. Do not try to use it or transfer it to a syringe.
- Throw the pen away after 4 doses or 30 days after first use, whichever comes first.
Step-by-step instructions are in how to use Mounjaro.
Missed Dose
If 4 days (96 hours) or less have passed, take the missed dose as soon as possible. If more than 4 days have passed, skip it and take the next dose on your usual day. Keep at least 3 days between doses.
Storage and Cold-Chain Delivery
Mounjaro is shipped in insulated packaging with medical-grade gel packs and a temperature indicator. Check the package and indicator as soon as it arrives. If the indicator shows the medicine went below 2°C (36°F) or above 8°C (46°F), do not use it and contact the pharmacy.
- Before first use: Store pens in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F), in the carton to protect from light. If needed, an unused pen can be kept unrefrigerated up to 30°C (86°F) for up to 30 days.
- After first use: Keep the pen at room temperature up to 30°C (86°F) and discard it 30 days after first use, even if a dose remains.
- Never freeze Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy, has particles or has changed color.
- When traveling, keep pens in your carry-on bag, not checked luggage.
Mounjaro Side Effects and Safety Information
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, decreased appetite, vomiting, constipation, indigestion and stomach pain. These are most common when starting Mounjaro or moving to a higher dose and often ease over time. See all Mounjaro side effects.

Do not use Mounjaro if you or a family member has had MTC, if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), or if you have had a serious allergic reaction to tirzepatide.
